The Center for Food Education will serve as a hub for academic exploration, personal growth, and pathways to leadership and employment through food, farming, and the culinary arts. The building will be home to daily field trips and Good School Food instruction, community gardening and culinary programming, quality, and affordable fresh produce, increased employment and training opportunities for graduates of Birmingham City Schools, and professional development and training for teachers.
The Ready to Grow campaign is a community-driven approach to engaging the Birmingham community in outfitting the Center with the tools it needs and allowing residents the opportunity to invest in JVTF’s mission through tangible donations—small and large. Anchoring the campaign is JVTF’s Ready to Grow website, found at ready2grow.org. The Ready to Grow public campaign aims to raise $200,000 to support the completion of the Center.
